Santa's Letter

Christmas is Coming Soon Please begin to get prepared for next Christmas which is only 4 months away. A new contract for Santa Claus has finally been negotiated.

Read the following carefully....I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer be able to serve the Southern United States on Christmas Eve. Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was re-negotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209.I now serve only certain areas of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. As part of the new and better contract I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies, so keep that in mind. I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement who happens to be my third cousin,

Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my
goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there
are a few differences between us.

Differences such as:
1.There is no danger of a Grinch stealing your presents from
Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that
reads: "These toys insured by Smith and Wesson."

2.Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave
an RC cola and pork rinds (or a moon pie) on the fireplace. And
Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe, he dips a little snuff though, so please have
an empty spit can handy.

3.Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flying coon dogs
instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer
one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace.

4.You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen" when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Wallace,
on Martin and Labonte. On Rudd, on Jarrett, on Elliott and
Petty".

5."Ho, Ho, Ho!" has been replaced by "Yee Haw!" And you also are likely
to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I hear dat!"

6.As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words "Back Off." The last I heard it also another decoration on the sleigh back as well. It is a Chevy logo with lights that race through the letters.

7.The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other.

8.Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure that
you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put
presents under the tree.

9.And finally, you will not hear the lovely Christmas songs that have been sung about me like "Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer" and Bing Crosby's "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" This year songs about Bubba Claus will be played on all the radio stations in the south. Those song titles will be Mark Chesnutt's "Bubba Claus Shot the Jukebox", and Hank Williams, Jr.'s "If You Don't Like Bubba Claus, You Can Shove It." Won't be long before Christmas so get ready Y'all.

Sincerely Yours,

Santa Claus (Member of North American Fairies

My Spiritual Birthday Today

Here is my story, Bro. Donald L. Ledbetter started the West Erwin St. Baptist Church in September of 1962. They started in a small donut shop and them moved to the old ‘Max Town Tavern’. It was there that my Aunt Teen and cousin Donnie started attend and it was long till Donnie was teaching Jr. Boys.

With West Erwin St. Baptist Church coming up on their first year anniversary, Donnie had a contest as to who would bring the most boys to Sunday School. Donnie brought Sammy by my house and they invited me to church, if I came a Sammy’s visitor it would help Sammy win a hamster.

I started attending W. E. S. B. C. and on the 3rd Sunday of September 1963 I repented of my sins and trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour. Oh, Sammy won the hamster and it has been dead along time now. But from that day September 15, 1963 I have ’new life’ in Christ.

Today, I praise the Lord for His goodness and grace to save a lost sinner such as I.

I praise the Lord for sending Don Ledbetter to start W. E. S. B. C.

And I praise the Lord for a cousin, who was a Sunday School teacher who cared for my lost soul.

Who could you reach for Christ today??

The Gospel of Labor Day

LABOR DAY - LESSONS ON LABOR

The Gospel of Labor Day

I’m not interested in Religion, but I’m deeply interested in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then what’s the difference?

I would not cross the street for another Religion, but I’d circle the globe for the Gospel.

Religions are man-made, the Gospel is God-given.

Religion is what man does for God, the Gospel is what God does for man.

Religions seek harmony with gods, the Gospel is God seeking us.

Religion is man climbing the ladder of self-righteousness hoping to meet God on the top rung. The Gospel is God coming down the ladder through His incarnation to meet sinners on the lowest rung.

Religion seeks good views, the Gospel shares “Good News.”

Religion might have some good advice, but the Gospel has a glorious announcement.

Religion is an effort to change man but it leaves him lost. The Gospel takes people from where they are to make us saved.

Religion leads to an outer reformation, the Gospel starts with an inner transformation.

Religions instill uniformity, but the Gospel has the unity of the Spirit.

Religion fails to give peace, the Gospel grants the peace that passes understanding.

Religions whitewash our sins, but the Gospel washes white as snow.

Religion will claim our merit, the Gospel embraces God’s mercy.

Religion says, “Do good and keep doing good, and eventually you will become good.” The Gospel says, “We are only good through the grace of God and then we’ll want to do good.”

Religion says, “Tell the truth and keep on telling the truth to be honest.” The Gospel says, “Surrender your sins to God, and then you will love the truth.”

Religions say you must try, but the Gospel says to trust!

Religions teach to develop yourself, the Gospel says to deny yourself.

Religions think we join with God to save ourselves, the Gospel is about being saved by surrendering to the Savior.

Religion says to attempt, the Gospel is to accept!

Religion wants us to attain, the Gospel is to obtain.

Religion gives requirements and rules too heavy to follow, the Gospel is the relationship to sustain us forever!

Religion may give you something to live by, but the Gospel will give what you need to die by.

Religions have speculations on the gospel, while the Gospel has the assurance to be saved (1 Cor. 15:1-4).

Religions have spread across the face of the earth, but only the Gospel can take you to heaven.

Religion holds the vanity of wasted lives, but the Gospel holds our victory through the power of the cross.

Religions bring change but while leaving us lost, the Gospel begins from we are to give us eternal life.

Religions say to “Do this and do that - and you might make it.” The Gospel says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved!”

There are many Religions, but only one true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thoughts Left Over from Father's Day

This Father's Day, think of the influence of a man on souls of his descendants.

POLYGAMOUS FATHERS: A large hardbound book is about polygamous Jesse Smith, the cousin of Joseph who settled in Arizona. Jesse married five women and had 44 children. Now there are over 20,000 descendants, including the teachers at BYU. Think about when a family is so huge. He is in eternity, and sadly he has led them towards a tragic end.

CRIMINAL FATHERS: Ron Hutchcraft told of a criminal with over 1,200 descendants. Of these, 400 were wrecked by drugs, drinking, or sexual disease. 310 were beggars and 130 were convicted criminals. 60 were thieves, 7 murderers, and 20 learned a trade in prison.

CHRISTIAN FATHERS: The great preacher, Jonathan Edwards, was the president of Princeton. Following his linage are 100 college professors, 100 ministers, 100 lawyers and judges, 60 doctors, 24 authors and editors, and 14 college presidents.

Be careful about how our choices extend through the decades. Would we pass on a lukewarm faith to destroy who we love so much, our own children and precious generations to follow? God forbid! Be faithful to God! ~ C B
