My Minister – Right or Wrong

I have a minister. Time was when he was a good minister. I pronounced him great. This I did because I liked him.

His sermons were wonderful – as long as I liked him.

His speech was passing fair – as long as I liked him.

He was a hard worker – as long as I liked him.

He was the man for the job – as long as I liked him.

In fact, I was strong for him – as long as I liked him.

But my minister offended me one day.  Whether he knew it or not, I do not know. Since that day my minister has ceased to be a good minister – he is just an ordinary one.

His sermons are not so wonderful – since he offended me.

His speech is of no account – since he offended me.

His faults are more prominent - since he offended me.

He is not hard worker – since he offended me.

He is not the man for the job – since he offended me.

In fact, I’m trying to oust him – since he offended me.

Many times our estimate of a minister is to determined in a large measure by personal likes or dislikes. Individual feeling, whether we realize it or not, colour our judgment. Liking a minister, we like his work. Disliking a minister be cannot please us. God help us to rise above the little petty things, and see men and issues in their clear light!!!

Are you on speaking terms with God??

Are you on speaking terms with God??

Men are not expected to be on speaking terms with their greatest enemy. But it is a sin of unspeakable guilt for them not to be on speaking terms with their best friend God, therefore, is an enemy or a friend and that is indicated by the time we spend speaking with Him.

It was an unknown disciple who asked the Lord, “Teach us to pray.” And yet how grateful we are to someone whose name we don’t even know.

It was not the Master’s method to give, unless they asked; and this is even God’s way with us. God does not throw His treasures at men. “God feeds the birds but He does not throw the food into their nest.”

Doctor's 'rule for Christian living'

Dr. J. Wilbur Chapman had this which he called "My rule for Christian living."

"The rule that governs my life is this:  "Anything that dims my vision of Christ, or takes away my taste for Bible study, or cramps my prayer life, or makes Christian work difficult, is wrong for me, and I must, as a Christian, turn away from it." This simple rule may help you find a safe road for your feet along life's pathway.

FAITHFULNESS

Adult SS Lesson March 11, 2012

FAITHFULNESS

INTRODUCTION

A Christian holds this high status of being a child of God.  With that status a child of God has much privilege.  It has been said; however, that with much privilege comes much responsibility.  It is also true that God has given the Christian a great responsibility to fulfill.

KEY VERSE:  I Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”

In reviewing I Corinthians 4:2 we see that faithfulness is required of a steward.  A steward is the manager of another person’s possessions.  As Christians the Lord calls us to be stewards of His possessions.

1.         According to I Corinthians 4:2 what is the most outstanding characteristic that a steward should have?

2.         a)         What does it mean to be faithful?

            b)         Why do you think that the Lord requires faithfulness?

3.         As Christians we should be like Christ.  Read Deuteronomy 7:9.  What quality does God have that makes him true to his promises and commitments?

4.         According to II Corinthians 5:18, 19 what has God given us?

5.         II Corinthians 5:20 calls us                                                                  for Christ.

6.         What is an ambassador for Christ?

7.         Are you an ambassador for Christ?

What will you do to improve those areas that you’ve rated low in faithfulness?

1.         How does a Christian’s testimony of unfaithfulness affect God?

            The Lost Man?

            Himself?

            Christian Brethren?

2.         Read Revelation 3:15.  Why is God upset by lukewarm Christians?

What would be better for Christ’s testimony than a lukewarm Christian?

How can we avoid being lukewarm?

3.         a)         List some things that you have that God owns.

            b)         List some things that you have that God does not own.

4.         Explain how I Corinthians 10:31-33 is applied in the life of a faithful Christian.

5.         Why is it so important to be faithful?
