A Trip Through The Bible

A TRIP THROUGH THE BIBLE

BY

THE LATE BILLY SUNDAY

WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AS MY GUIDE, I ENTERED THE WONDERFUL TEMPLE OF CHRISTIANITY.

I ENTERED AT THE PORTICO OF GENESIS, AND WALKED DOWN THROUGH THE OLD TESTAMENT ART GALLERIES WHERE THE PICTURES OF NOAH, ABRAHAM, MOSES, JOSEPH, ISAAC, JACOB AND DANIEL HUNG ON THE WALL.

I WALKED INTO THE MUSIC ROOM OF THE PSALMS, WHERE THE SPIRIT SWEPT THE KEYBOARD OF NATURE UNTIL IT SEEMED THAT EVERY REED AND PIPE IN GOD’S GREAT ORGAN RESPONDED TO THE TUNEFUL HARP OF DAVID, THE SWEET SINGER OF ISRAEL.

I ENTERED THE CHAMBER OF ECCLESIASTES, WHERE THE VOICE OF THE PREACHER WAS HEARD. AND INTO THE CONSERVATORY OF SHARON AND THE LILY OF THE VALLEY’S SWEET SCENTED SPICES FILLED AND PERFUMED MY LIFE.

I ENTERED THE BUSINESS OF PROVERBS AND THEN INTO THE OBSERVATORY ROOM OF THE PROPHETS, WHERE I SAW TELESCOPES OF VARIOUS SIZES POINTED TO FAR OFF EVENTS

BUT ALL CONCENTRATED UPON THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR WHICH WAS TO RISE OVER THE HILLS OF JUDEA FOR OUR SALVATION.

I ENTERED THE AUDIENCE ROOM OF THE

KING OF KINGS AND CAUGHT A VISION OF HIS GLORY FROM THE STANDPOINT OF

MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE AND JOHN.

I WALKED INTO THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES WHERE THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS DOING HIS WORK IN THE FORMATION OF THE INFANT CHURCH.

THEN INTO THE CORRESPONDENCE ROOM WHERE PAUL, PETER, JAMES AND JOHN PREPARED THEIR EPISTLES.

I STEPPED INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF REVELATION, WHERE TOWERED THE GLITTERING THRONE,

AND CAUGHT A VISION OF THE KING SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD,

IN ALL HIS GLORY, AND I CRIED.

ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME.

LET ANGELS PROSTRATE FALL.

BRING FORTH THE ROYAL DIADEM

AND CROWN HIM LORD OF ALL!

Bring forth the royal diadem,

And crown him lord of all.

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,

Ye ransomed from the fall.

Hail him who saves you by his grace

And crown him lord of all

Bring forth the royal diadem

And crown him lord of all

Let every kindred, every tribe

On this terrestrial ball

To him all majesty ascribe,

And crown him lord of all

To him all majesty ascribe

And crown him lord of all.

Oh that with yonder sacred throng

We at his feet may fall!

We’ll join the everlasting song,

And crown him lord of all

We’ll join the everlasting song,

And crown him lord of all

PG Campers @ Camp YES

Greetings from Prince George, BC.

Last week we were able to attend Camp Yes, at Point Roberts, Washington. Here is our group with Pastor Boyd Stansford our camp preacher. There were 5 professions of faith in Christ and a number of other decisions for Christ and living the victorious Christian life.

On our way down to Camp we blew the transmission out on our 1995 GMC van, we were wanting to replace the van this September. But the Lord had other plans for us. Regena and I just returned from a 3,600 mile trip, and a 1,300 mile round trip to Seattle to pick up my mother in law and grandson, Nic. With no problems or slippage but with a load of 7 campers it blew and we had to rent a van for the rest of the trip.

If you would like to help replace our van, you may seen a love offering to

WHAT TO PREACH

We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. ― 2 Corinthians 4:5

Here is proper orientation for a preacher. He is not to preach himself, his experience, his ideas, his pet themes. The pulpit is no sounding board for a man. He is to preach “Christ Jesus as Lord,” the threefold Name so often set forth in Scripture – Messiah, Mediator, Master. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

It is a ministry of “Not I but Christ.” Where does the preacher come in? “Ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” Not just servants, period. We are not to be glorified flunkeys waiting on fussy church members. Only that service which is for His sake counts. A lot of things we do and a lot of things people demand are not for Jesus’ sake.

But He is the subject of preaching and we are servants. Woe to the man who would make himself the subject and Christ a servant to advance his own ministry!

What to preach? Here is the answer to the old, old question. VANCE HAVNER

Christians In The Crosshairs

AMERICA – AND CHRISTIANS IN THE CROSSHAIRS.

Christians will know in some sense that our time is up

whenever we discover that Judas is on the way.

Might American Christians be turned into the hands of tormentors for injustice and abuse to silence us? How long will it be until the headlines will read:

"Final ruling: Christian's banned from anti-gay speech."

"U.N. ruling: Christians banned from speaking against Islam."

THE JUDAS PRINCIPLE

This is the conduct that you see whenever a friend of the gospel turns sharply against Jesus Christ, His teachings and His followers. Then to face a Judas, might we hope for some kind of compassion? No. This kind of mentality will first set out to find Christ, or today to find Christian people, while bringing the crowds behind them.

AN AMERICAN JUDAS?

America was founded by leaders who were friendly towards Christian principles, so can't we expect our leaders to remain as our friends today? Will all of our elected representatives be genuine as the friends of Christianity or might some of them be bought off to betray us?

DECEPTION AND DISGRACE

Let's see how a betrayer conducts himself. And this is what separates the real diplomats in Washington, DC today from so many cheap politicians. While Judas was coldly into his act of seeking Jesus, amazingly, he had a big crowd of big men carrying big clubs and who would not hesitate to give his most trusted friends a big beating. So how do angry crowds pursue a people of peace? With hostility! They even came with swords, weapons for drawing blood! The Judas principle examined: Is there shame over deception? Not through the process! Judas would veil his intentions as he warmly greeted Jesus, to say, "Hail, master!" Self-seeking betrayers are deceptive while faking their loyalty. When this Judas came, he beguiled his intentions, and he "kissed him."

ENEMIES – NOT OF FLESH AND BLOOD

Now, let's learn from Jesus. What was His response? Christ was everything that Judas was not while being compassionate, transparent, void of ulterior motives and even gentle. However, I wonder if Peter didn't have some choice words to confront and denounce this wicked defector-friend while grasping his sword. Yet, Jesus stayed his hand from further violence. To die in a moment of attack, Peter would never have accomplished the great work of the gospel ahead of him, even as Jesus set His face like a flint towards the cross.

THE CROWDS

How does the American crowd and press, perhaps either impress or depress you today? Those around Judas are like lots of the American people today – foolish and shallow! They failed to practice normal logical responses, apparently made no effort to control their emotions, were emptied of compassion, were blinded by frenzy, knew hatred without foresight, released Judas from accountability, aligned with the wicked, and never would think of exposing Judas as the traitor he was!

CHRISTIAN VALUES AND THE FREEFALL FROM THE APPROVAL RATINGS

In our recent generation, the failure to be "correct" does not raise an outrage so much as the failure to be "politically correct." The politically correct get really cool about evidences but really heated about exposure. Just agree with any lie! So the failure to tell the truth in politics no longer raises great concern. They are even expected and endorsed through their lies! So crowds affirm the politically correct politicians even if they are incorrect by lies. So now we have fallen so low as to dignify deceit. Simply check it out: Who has been trapped by their lies? Are they not the politically correct? The oxymoron for destruction: Correct in lying, evil for good, darkness for light, and bitter for sweet.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;

that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;

that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20).

THE LORD!

How is it standing with Jesus as the crowd is coming to take Him away? And what then if they should seize us in a like manner? Then friend, we need to know that we have the same Lord! Our giving Savior was crucified, our great Champion has risen, and our glorious King is coming again! He bears the wounds of battle, He reigns today in power, and when He comes there won't be any doubt about who will be taking anybody away!

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb." (Rev. 7:9-10).

Greetings from Lancaster, Calif.

After preaching and teaching Sunday Morning at Spruceland Baptist Church, then two nursing home services at 2 & 3 on Sunday afternoon. I caught a flight from Prince George to Vancouver.

I made it for the services of Greater Vancouver Baptist Church, then had some fellowship time with the Pastor Conner and his family.

Early on Monday morning Paul Conner gave us a ride to YVR to fly to LAX. We made it to LA. and then traveled up to Lancaster. Our first stop was In and Out Burger.

The Services on Monday night was very moving, and I was truly blessed. Great presentation by Lancaster Baptist Church and a challenge by Dr. Paul Chappell. Busy day today will try to post more this afternoon.

Romans 12:1,2

Rom 12:1,2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The Christian is to be different from the world. We are to put away the habits and practices that the world has. Our lives are to be clean and above reproach.

God has a standard for every part of our lives.

Our habits

Our music

Our pleasure

Our dress

Our Church attendance

Our friends

Our dealings with others

Our conversation

God has a standard for all of our lives. Quit arguing and start obeying.

Thanks David Warner

Mission Thoughts on Monday - July 7, 2008

“I have but one candle of life to burn, and would rather burn it out where people are dying in darkness than in a land which is flooded with lights. – A Missionary

THE DEVIL HAS NO GREAT INTEREST IN DESTROYING THE CHURCH; HE WOULD RATHER RUN IT!!!

“GOD NEVER PUTS ANYBODY IN A PLACE TOO SMALL TO GROW IN.”

We can’t be blind to other people’s faults, but we can be infinitely tender, comparing their worst with our worst and not their worst with our best.

A mistake is evidence that someone has tried to do something.

I never knew a child of God being bankrupted by his benevolence. What we keep we may lose, but what we give to Christ we are sure to keep. T.L. Cuyler

Child Training

TEACH HIM EARLY

“Before your child has come to seven,

Teach him well the way to heaven;

Better still the truth will thrive,

If he knows it when he’s five;

Best of all it at your knee

He learns it when he’s only three.
