Names to go by ...

The scripture gives four names to Christians, taken from the four cardinal graces so essential to man’s salvation:

SAINTS for their holiness,

BELIEVERS for their faith,

BRETHREN for their love,

DISCIPLES for their knowledge.

British Columbia Climate Action Dividend

Regena and I got our cheques on Thursday, and I am giving most of mine back to the BC Gov. I will tithe 10% to Spruceland Baptist Church. See below for rest of the story.

We’re leading the way with Balanced Budget 2008, which overturns the notion that you have to choose either a strong economy or a healthy environment.

In fact, we’re investing more than $1 billion in climate action initiatives. At the same time, we’re introducing new personal and business tax reductions. The changes in Balanced Budget 2008 will give British Columbians, by 2009, the lowest personal taxes in Canada on incomes up to $111,000.

We’re also encouraging innovation and conservation by introducing North America’s first revenue-neutral carbon tax. And starting in late June 2008, British Columbians are eligible to receive a Climate Action Dividend of $100. It's just one of the ways we're helping people take action on climate change.

How will you spend your $100?

Whether you choose to buy energy-efficient light bulbs, shop locally for produce, or purchase eco-friendly upgrades in your home, your decisions can make a big difference.

The rest of the 90% I will give back to the BC Gov.

Last night after Bible Study Regena and I went to Wal-mart and purchased our BC Gov. issued "Fishing Licences". Later this week I will get out my 'resident hunting number' and go and spend the rest on my BC Gov. issued "Hunting License"and "tags'.

Thanks Premier Gordon Campbell, and you have my 'best regards'.

So, my fellow British Columbian how will you spend your $ 100.00???

THE TRIAL OF THE LORD JESUS

In 1828 Dupin, a famous French lawyer, investigated the legality of the Trail of Christ - -

1. The Lord’s apprehension was illegal.

2. That He being conducted to Annas was illegal.

3. Examination at night illegal.

4. Ill-treatment in the Hall of Caiaphas.

5. Proceedings on a Fast Day.

6. Caiaphas, the accuser to be the judge.

7. Testimony of witnesses perverted.

8. His own admission insufficient – reception illegal.

9. Outrages and blows illegal.

10. Condemnation of Jews for a capital offense, over which they had no jurisdiction, illegal.

11. Accusation of political crime of treason wholly different from that for which He was apprehended.

12. The charge itself false - - Christ never claimed dominion asserted.

13. Pilate acquitted Christ – further proceedings illegal.

14. Reference to Herod illegal. His trial before a competent tribunal had failed.

15. Acquitted also by Herod - - detention illegal.

16. Pilate, yielding to the clamors of the Jews against his own finding - - grossly illegal.

17. His last appeal to deliver Barrabas to them admitted the illegality of his action.

18. All the subsequent indignities including the ex3cution on Calvary - - grossly illegal.

19. His crime written on the Cross not that for which He was apprehended.

Live In The Sight Of God.

This is what Abraham did; he walked before God. - Gen 24:40 And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:

This is what Enoch did: he walked with God. - Gen 24:40 And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:

Do nothing you would not like God to see. – 1Co 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Say nothing you would not like God to hear. – Psa 141:3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Sing nothing that will not be melodious in God’s ear. – Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Write nothing you would not like God to read. – Psa 139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Go to no place where you would not like God to find you. – Psa 139:3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

Read no book which you would not like God to say, “Show it to me”. – Psa 119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

Mission Thoughts on Monday - Burma / China

Dr. Mason, of Burma, once wanted a teacher to visit and labour among a warlike tribe. He asked his converted boatman, Shapon, if he would go, and told him he would have only four rupees a month as a teacher, where as he was earning fifteen as a boatman. After praying over the matter, he returned to Doctor Mason, and the following conversation ensued - -

“Well Shapon, said the doctor, “what have you decided - - will you go for four rupees a month?”

“No, teacher,” replied Shapon, “I will not go for four rupees a month, but I will go for Christ.”

UNDAUNTED SERVICE: A one-legged schoolteacher from Scotland came to J. Hudson Taylor to offer himself for service in china. “Why do you, with one leg, think of going as a missionary?” asked Taylor.

Because I do not see those with two legs going, so I must,” replied George Scott. He was accepted.

A Father's Ten Precepts

1. He makes himself responsible for his child's behavior.

2. He is never blinded by love to his child's best interest but recognizes and corrects weaknesses.

3. He makes his child feel secure.

4. He shares in his child's activities.

5. He has his child's complete confidence.

6. He is always available to help solve youthful problems.

7. He doesn't demand devotion from his child; he wins it.

8. He recognizes and accepts his child's mental and spiritual development as largely his responsibility.

9. He contributes to make the home the child's haven.

10. He strives to be honest with his child.

A Little Fellow’s Dad

I may never be as clever as my neighbor down the street.

I may never be as wealthy as some other men I meet;

I may never have the glory some other men have had;

But I’ve got to be successful as a little fellow’s dad.

There are certain dreams I cherish that I like to see come true,

There are things I would accomplish ere my working time is through,

But the task my heart is set upon is to guide a little lad.

And make myself successful as the little fellow’s dad.

It’s that one job I dream of, it’s task I think of most,

If I’d fail that growing youngster; I’d nothing else to boast.

For though wealth and fame I’d gather all my future would be sad,

If I failed to be successful as that little fellow’s dad.

I may never get earth’s glory, I may never gather earth’s gold.

Men may count me as a failure, When my business life is told.

But if he who follows after is a Christian, I’ll be glad--

For I’ll know I’ve been successful as a little fellow’s dad.

Rules to live by ... or NOT!!

The #'s are not in order as I removed some of the ones that were not acceptable.

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often.

3. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

4. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

5 . My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

10. If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

11. Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks.

14. Men are from earth. Women are from earth. Deal with it.

15. No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes.

16. A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.

17. Middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of the waist change places.

18. Opportunities always look bigger going than coming.

19. Junk is something you've kept for years and throw away 3 weeks before you need it.

21. Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

22. By the time you can make ends meet, they move the ends.

23. Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.

24. Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world.

25. It ain't the jeans that make your butt look fat.

27. There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.'

29. You should not confuse your career with your life.

31. Never lick a steak knife.

32. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

33. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

34. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

36. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

38. Thought for the day: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark (So they say). A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

UNBELIEVABLE MATH PROBLEM

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.

Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why that person

is not running the country.

Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your Head)

1. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the Area code...)

2. Multiply by 80

3. Add 1

4. Multiply by 250

5. Add
to this the last 4 digits of your phone number

6. Add
to this the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

7. Subtract 250

8. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer ??

Thanks to the west coast Coates.

Give 'em a sign

-----This is pretty neat.....(30 second video)... Have you ever seen one of our military walking past you and wanted to convey to them your thanks, but weren't sure how or it felt awkward?

Recently, a gentleman from Seattle created a gesture which could be used and has started a movement to get the word out.

Please everybody take just a moment to watch.... The Gratitude Campaign;
...and then forward it to your friends!
THEN START USING THE SIGN.
